Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the SpecInspect mobile application ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including free and Pro subscribers.
2. Description of Service
SpecInspect provides a construction product database that allows users to search, scan, and compare technical specifications for building products. The Service includes access to product data, technical data sheets (TDS), source PDFs, photo-based product scanning, barcode scanning, and submittal building tools.
3. Account Registration
You may need to create an account to access certain features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
4. Subscription Plans and Pricing
Free Plan
- Unlimited product search and browsing
- 5 photo scans per day
- 20 barcode scans per day
- Access to product details and TDS links
Pro Plan — $12.99/month
- Everything in Free, plus:
- 50 photo scans per day
- 200 barcode scans per day
- Side-by-side product comparison (up to 4 products)
- Submittal builder with PDF export
- Save and organize specs across projects
- Priority support
All prices are in US dollars. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect current billing periods.
5. Free Trial
New Pro subscribers are offered a 14-day free trial. During the trial period, you will have full access to all Pro features at no charge. You must cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged. If you do not cancel, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid Pro plan at $12.99/month.
6. Payment and Billing
Pro subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period. Refund requests are handled through Apple's standard refund process.
8. Scan Rate Limits
Photo and barcode scans are subject to daily rate limits based on your plan tier. Rate limits reset every 24 hours. Even scans that do not return results count toward your daily limit, as they incur processing costs. Attempting to circumvent rate limits may result in account suspension.
9. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access, scrape, or extract product data through automated means other than the provided API
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Share your account credentials with others
- Use the Service to compete directly with SpecInspect (e.g., building a competing product database)
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls
10. Product Data Disclaimer
Product specifications, technical data, and other information in SpecInspect are sourced from manufacturer publications and technical data sheets. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of product data. Product specifications may change without notice. Always verify critical specifications with the manufacturer before use. SpecInspect is not liable for decisions made based on product data in the Service.
11. Intellectual Property
The SpecInspect application, including its design, code, branding, and curated database structure, is the property of SpecInspect LLC and is protected by intellectual property laws. Product data (specifications, TDS content) belongs to the respective manufacturers. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpecInspect LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall remain in effect.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will provide notice of material changes via the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York County, New York.
